Assumption – Could it have been possible that the Blessed Virgin, upon her death, was assumed into heaven body and soul? Could be.
Could it have been possible for God to bestow this privilege on the “Hail Full of Grace,” according to the Message of Angel Gabriel at the Annunciation? Yes its possible. Yes all things are possible with God.
Could He have given such an honor for having brought the Savior of the world into this world through the Incarnation?
Yes He could have.
Does my salvation depend on this if I believe this or not? No, it does not. My salvation depends on acceptance of Christ our Savior, the Incarnate Son of God, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Then what does the feast do? This feast is indicative of what could happen to all of us who die in the Lord, that we will rise in the Lord. This gives us the hope of heaven and everlasting life. That a faithful receptacle of the Son of God on this earth, who was also a faithful disciple and was glorified upon her death. Click here for more on the Assumption
We come from God, we belong to God, we go back to God – this is what the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary teaches us. And we have another dear Mother of God interceding us before the heavenly throne in the glorious company of all the angels and saints.
